Vocational Nursing Students Make Career Connections at June Career Fair
On June 6th, Vocational Nursing students at Stanbridge College met with representatives of over 40 healthcare employers at the Vocational Nursing Career Fair. Students were able to network with skilled nursing facilities, home health organizations, hospice organizations, hospitals, medical offices and others and learned what it is they are looking for in future potential employees. Many students made lasting impressions and connections for potential job interviews.
According to Alice Brinkmann, VN student who is graduating this July, “I was blown away by yesterday! I handed out my resume to 10 employers and by 3pm I had email [responses] from 8 out of 10 employers.”
“One student came to me and within 30 minutes had two interviews,” stated Arman Goshtasbe, Assistant Director of Career Services at Stanbridge College.
Stanbridge College offers career fairs as part of its career preparation for its students and alumni. The Career Services Department at Stanbridge College offers assistance with job placement, résumé preparation, mock interviews and career advising. Alumni members are able to receive life-long job placement and access to educational workshops for continuing education.
Mr. Goshtasbe continued, “I think the career fair was a great success. Our VN students came prepared with questions and were very engaged in conversation. I think they walked away with a clear picture of where they need to grow professionally. Many of the employers were also very impressed by the event and our students.”
“We met with a lot of future employers and a lot of them are actually hiring [VN] students. If you are working and going to school, doing something in the same field is really awesome because that way you can put it on your résumé when your looking for LVN work,” stated another VN student who participated in the career fair.
