Stanbridge College Launches Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) Program

Stanbridge College has launched an Associate of Science in Nursing as a new addition to its campus programs for career training.

Irvine, California – Stanbridge College, a private college that offers Masters, Bachelor, and Associate of Science degrees and diploma programs in Allied Health and Information Technology, has launched an Associate of Science in Nursing degree program at their Irvine based campus. The 19-month, hands-on training program prepares students to obtain their Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with a comprehensive and highly integrated NCLEX-RN exam preparation. The inaugural classes are scheduled to start in October of 2014.

“We are very pleased to add to the Associate of Science in Nursing degree to our Nursing and Allied Health programs,” stated Yasith Weerasuriya, President of Stanbridge College. “Employers are seeking highly trained RNs with skills in critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving in addition to business communication skills. We are ready to help match our student’s passion for caring for others to the skills they need to succeed in this rewarding profession.”

The program exposes students to the real-world, fast-paced environment of hospitals and healthcare facilities through clinical instruction in the college’s Nursing Simulation Lab and Nursing Skills Lab on campus. The Nursing Simulation lab is a world-class facility where students train with simulation manikins pre-programmed with patient scenarios to teach and test nursing skills. Electronic Medical Record stations also enable students to master industry-relevant skills and critical healthcare technology. Students have the opportunity to learn in hospitals and clinics in Orange County through clinical partner facilities.

During the program, students learn in an interdisciplinary environment as they work alongside students from the college’s Diploma in Vocational Nursing, Master’s in Occupational Therapy, and Associate’s in Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs to understand how to work within a team of healthcare professionals.

The Associate of Science in Nursing is designed to lead students into the Stanbridge RN to BSN degree completion and Master of Science in Nursing programs. The RN to BSN and MSN programs are both offered online and allow working RNs to continue to expand their career in healthcare leadership and education.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for Registered Nurses is high as the aging population continues to grow, and cases of conditions and illness include obesity, diabetes, dementia and autism increase.

Established in 1996, Stanbridge College offers vocational training in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Hemodialysis, Veterinary Technology and Information Technology. Earlier this year, the college launched the first Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in Orange County.

The Associate of Science in Nursing at Stanbridge College is accredited by the California Board of Registered Nurses. Their website is http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/rnprograms.shtml.
