IPv4 Addresses are all gone! The world is ending! When do we go IPv6?

Ars Technica has an article on transitioning from IPv4 to IPv6 and makes a business case for not switching immediately, factors to consider before deciding to make a transition.  This article discusses, in a layered approach, factors ranging from Operating System capabilities to network provider resources to application pitfalls.

Ars themselves are not leading the charge to IPv6 and lists the reasons.  They will be watching Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Cisco, Akamai Technologies, Limelight Networks, W3C, Bing, Tom’s Hardware, Rackspace, and Juniper on World IPv6 day (coming in June) to see what happens when the big guys “turn on the big red switch”.
