Home Health Nursing Employment Rapidly Expanding!

Home Health Nursing Employment Rapidly Expanding! Home health nursing is a specialty that is expected to rapidly expand within the next decade! The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the employment of nurses in home health is projected to grow 33 percent from 2008 to 2018. “I feel home health care is what nursing was meant to be,” says Eileen McFadden, RN, MN, manager of educational services, Providence VNA Home Health Care, a not-for-profit home care agency in Spokane, Wash. “You get to practice exactly what you were taught in school–looking at the whole person. You aren’t just focusing on a disease or an injury, but you are looking at what is influencing the patient…what interventions can be done and identifying needs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, dieticians, speech therapy or even intervention by a social worker.” For more on this article, click here.
