Stanbridge College Celebrates World Occupational Therapy Day for OTA Program

Stanbridge College is pleased to recognize all of the students, instructors and staff in our Occupational Therapy Assistance program on World Occupational Therapy Day. On this day, the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) honors occupational therapists and promotes awareness of the impact that occupational therapy has on our everyday lives.

According to the American Occupational Therapy Association, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants aid people in all stages of life through the therapeutic use of everyday activities or occupations. Typical types of occupational therapy interventions include:

–    helping children with disabilities participate in school and social environments
–    helping people recover from injuries to regain skills
–    supporting the elderly as they experience changes in physical and mental abilities

Occupational therapists and assistants provide people with the planning, execution of and evaluation of a patient’s goals and achievements. Their services may include a comprehensive evaluation of a patient’s environment (school, work or home), recommendations for equipment and training and education for caregivers and the public.

How does Occupational Therapy impact my life?

If you are not a child, disabled or injured you might be wondering how OT impacts your life. OT provides vital practices for everyday activities including traveling, working, sitting, using a computer, gardening and parenting. Techniques for energy conservation and posture can help everyone!
