Physical Therapist Assistant Mentorship Group Spreads Kindness
Professional excellence and compassion go hand in hand at Stanbridge University. Our mentorship program for Physical Therapist Assistant students is guided by full-time faculty members. This group offers PTA students a unique blend of support, guidance, and meaningful experiences. Each faculty member maintains their own student mentorship group, assigned at the program’s start. They meet regularly and engage in various activities. From team-building events to volunteer opportunities, they focus on cultivating a spirit of giving back to the community.
Crafting Compassion
In a recent activity, Dr. Lauren Eberhardt, Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director, brought together her cohorts 16 and 17 mentorship groups. They worked on a creative volunteer project that combined artistry with empathy. The students crafted personalized cards with thoughtful messages designed to uplift the spirits of individuals in hospice care. Through this hands-on activity, they learned more than just creativity. They gained a deeper understanding of how to show compassion and support during such sensitive interactions.
Connection Through Mentorship
The time spent creating the cards was both heartwarming and impactful. Bringing students from different cohorts together helped to foster camaraderie. It also allowed them to share experiences, ideas, and encouragement. These moments are invaluable, reminding us of all of the positive ripple effects that simple acts of kindness can have.
Fostering Empathy and Community
Dr. Eberhardt’s mentorship groups left the session with a sense of accomplishment. They gained a renewed appreciation for the power of empathy and the importance of building supportive communities.
