Virtualization Primer at Ars Technica

Virtualization Primer at Ars Technica The first in a series of four planned articles, this Ars Technica article is an introduction to the use of VMWare in an enterprise environment.  Leading to the details in a later article, Ars writer Sam Webb describes the advantages of virtualization with the capabilities of live migration, “high availability” and fault tolerance.  High availability is a bit of new terminology for VMWare – it does not mean clustering (as we normally associate with high availability) but rather the automatic restart of a virtual machine should either the guest OS unexpectedly halt or a physical host in a cluster of servers fail.
